Chapter XX
The Nikola Card System
A complete memorized-stack system for a full evening of impossibilities.

22 tricksWizard's Whist
This is the opening to a complete method rather than a single trick. It promises a way of arranging a deck so cunningly that no prearrangement is apparent under inspection, letting you deal winning ha
Argument
The reasoning behind a memorized stack whose hidden order looks completely random yet powers many effects.
Curriculum
A memory method that turns every card and every number into a vivid picture so the whole stack sticks in your mind.
Whist or Bridge
Using the memorized stack, you deal a whist hand that holds an entire suit, then offer further uncanny choices.
Spelling Bee
From a small packet you spell each value aloud and the matching card appears on cue, one after another.
Poker
You deal out a hand of poker where every player gets a strong hand and you finish with the unbeatable one.
'Nap.'
Hands of cards are dealt out and, time after time, they fall in the performer's favor.
Utility
On its own this is not a standalone trick but the doorway to a series of seemingly impossible card miracles.
'Stop'
A spectator calls 'stop' as you riffle, and you instantly announce exactly how many cards have passed.
Cards By Weight
A spectator cuts the deck, and just by hefting their packet you state the exact number of cards they cut.
Weighing Chosen Cards
A card is freely chosen and you make a point of not looking at it.
The Sense Of Touch
A card is freely chosen and you never see it. The spectator presses it against their own palm for a few seconds, then returns it to the pack. Laying your hand on theirs, you claim to feel the lingerin
Locating
A freely chosen card is returned, the deck is shuffled and cut, yet you name both the card and its exact position from the top.
Spelling
You spell out card names one letter at a time, and the very card you spelled lands face up at the end of every word.
To Spell Any Card Called For
A spectator names absolutely any card, and you spell it out letter by letter until that exact card turns up at the end.
Thought Anticipated
One spectator merely thinks of a card and another thinks of a number, and the card is found at exactly that number in a deck you never touched.
Unconscious Thought Transmission
You seal an unseen card in an envelope, the audience freely builds a card name in stages, and the sealed card matches it exactly.
Wizard's Whist
Four spectators are each handed a small group of cards and silently choose one to keep in mind, then return them all to you.
All Trumps
Spectators play out a friendly hand of cards, only to find every trump has mysteriously gathered into the performer's hand.
The Spelling Bee, the Game of Poker, and Nap
A handful of game-style feats let the performer name a card's exact position or find any named card behind his back.
To Produce Cards Called For from the Pocket
Spectators call for any cards they wish, and the performer produces each one from his pockets, one after another.
A Subtle Game
Four spectators each keep a chosen card while the performer ends up holding the rest of the deck in perfect order.
