The False Cut
Cut the pack convincingly while keeping the order.
The purpose
Appear to cut and mix the pack while the full order (or top/bottom stock) is retained — essential for protecting a stack or key card.
Handling, step by step
- 1
Cut the pack into packets on the table.
- 2
Reassemble in a sequence that restores the original order.
- 3
Keep the rhythm casual and unstudied.
Drills
Order check
Mark the top and bottom cards, perform the false cut, and verify they return.
Success: Top and bottom survive every cut.
Watch for these tells
- A cut that looks rehearsed.
- Pausing to think about reassembly.
