The Force (Sleight)
Make a spectator take the card you intend.
The purpose
Physically guide a 'free' selection to a known card using classic, riffle, or cut forces. The sleight-of-hand cousins of the self-working force.
Handling, step by step
- 1
Spread or riffle so the target card meets the spectator's reach.
- 2
Time the offer to the spectator's motion.
- 3
Have outs ready if the timing is missed.
Drills
The classic force
Spread toward the spectator and time the target to their hand; build a fallback for misses.
Success: A friend takes the target without noticing the guidance.
Watch for these tells
- Pushing a card too obviously.
- Tension when the timing slips.
