The Glide
Secretly deal the second-from-bottom card.
The purpose
Holding the pack face-down, draw back the bottom card with the fingers and deal the card above it instead — a simple, reliable way to control or switch the bottom card.
Handling, step by step
- 1
Hold the pack face-down in glide grip, bottom card showing.
- 2
With the left fingers, draw the bottom card back a fraction.
- 3
Deal the now-lowest card as though it were the bottom card.
Drills
Smooth draw
Glide and deal slowly, then at speed, until the draw-back is invisible.
Success: The deal looks identical to a normal bottom deal.
Watch for these tells
- A visible tug on the bottom card.
- Hesitation before the deal.
Tricks that use The Glide
Cut in Detection
A spectator cuts, returns a card to the centre, and you reveal it, sometimes found reversed in the heart of the deck.
The Quartette
Four cards are chosen and shuffled hopelessly into the deck, yet you reveal all four through spelling and apparent mind-reading.
Double-Backed Card Routine
A flowing five-part routine where cards change color, refuse to stay put, and reverse themselves on command.
X-Ray Everywhere And Nowhere
A chosen card is shown displayed on a stand, yet it keeps changing identity until it seems to be everywhere and nowhere at once.
Inseparable Aces
The four Aces are buried in separate parts of the deck, yet they all arrive together in the deal.
The Glide
You name the bottom card and deal it, yet a different card lands instead, exactly when you need it to.
